Noise Testing
Due in part to the Cotton Wool Society, Noise is becoming a problem issue at all British
racetracks, and subsequently we are all affected either directly or indirectly, so it's as well
to be aware of it.
For those destined for the track this Beezumph, this could be a problem - so
if you can avoid any excessive noise we'll all benefit from it. Short term and long term.
Basically, failure to do so could signal the end of Beezumph-type events.
We have just been instructed that there will be noise testing at Cadwell this year, and that
all machines will be tested. It'll be interesting to see what your bike measures.
Just how and when the bikes will be subjected to dB testing will be fully explained in the
final instructions sent out with the Beezumph programme, but I can tell you that it will
also be possible to noise test bikes the evening before each day's track sessions - as the
MSV staff will be available from 5.30pm until 7 pm both Thursday and Friday.
Beezumph is an unusual situation in that many of us bring two or more bikes to ride each
day, so it would assist us greatly - and contribute to a smooth running event - if all those
on site Thursday could present their bikes that evening (and the same Friday evening) for
noise testing as it will ease the throughput the next morning.
Your bike(s) needs to be noise tested only once; this covers the entire two-day meeting.
It is not the intention to unduly alarm any track participants, but instead to make everyone
aware that it is in everybody's interests to avoid excessively and unnecessarily noisy
motorcycles. Nobody will be prevented from going on the track so long as they are sensible
regarding noise.
